An Individual Taxpayer Identification Number is issued by the IRS for federal tax purposes to certain people who need a U.S. taxpayer identification number but are not eligible for a Social Security number. The IRS—not YNA TAX CORP—determines eligibility and issues the ITIN.
How we can support the process
Every application is different. We begin by understanding the tax purpose, the applicant’s situation, and the records available.
New applications
Guidance on the W-7 application package and the tax-return or exception documentation that may apply.
ITIN renewals
Help understanding whether renewal is needed and organizing the required application materials.
Document requirements
A careful review of the identity and foreign-status document requirements for the chosen submission method.
Tax-return coordination
Organization of the ITIN request alongside the related federal tax filing when required.
A careful, step-by-step approach
- Confirm the purposeWe discuss why the ITIN is needed, whether a tax return is involved, and the applicant’s circumstances.
- Review the application recordsWe identify the forms and supporting records needed for the appropriate submission path.
- Prepare for submissionWe explain the next steps, expected responsibilities, and how to respond if the IRS requests additional information.
Helpful records to discuss
- The applicant’s current identification and foreign-status documents
- Any prior ITIN notice or number, if this is a renewal
- The related tax return or records supporting another federal tax purpose
- IRS letters or notices connected with an earlier application
For current federal requirements, review the official IRS ITIN guidance.
Common questions
Is an ITIN the same as a Social Security number?
No. An ITIN is for federal tax purposes and does not replace an SSN, provide work authorization, change immigration status, or serve as general identification.
Does YNA TAX CORP issue the ITIN?
No. Only the IRS issues an ITIN. We help clients understand and organize the application or renewal process.
Should I email my passport or identity documents?
No. Do not send sensitive identity documents through ordinary email. Contact us first for approved delivery instructions.
